October is officially National Car Care Month. If you're wondering why that month exists, there are plenty of reasons. Essentially they all add up to this: regular car maintenance (and especially maintenance during the change of seasons) is of paramount importance. If you're unsure of what type of maintenance may need to be performed on your vehicle, here some tips:

  • Have your fluids checked: From engine oil to power steering fluid to transmission fluid and coolant, your cars fluids are the lifeblood of its main mechanical components. It's important to have them checked regularly. There's no better time than during Fall Car Care Month.
  • Have your brake system checked: It's good to have your brake linings, pads, rotors, and drums inspected at each oil change. But if that was long ago, and you feel your brakes wearing thin while driving, now is a good time to have your brake system inspected.
  • Have your battery checked: This is a great idea, especially if you notice your car taking longer to start than usual.
  • Have your tires checked: First off, tires shouldn't be used on a vehicle for more than 8 years. If your tires are 8 years old or older, have them replaced. If you're unsure of how to check the age of your tires, bring your car to us! Second, you'll want to have your tires checked for tread depth and tread wear.
