If you are hunting for a smaller luxury SUV that delivers excitement behind the wheel, your attention may be focused on the BMW line. The 2020 BMW X2 is a subcompact luxury crossover, and the X3 is a compact crossover that sits right above the X2 in BMW's lineup. You cannot go wrong with your selection of either model, but you may discover that one of them is a better fit for your preferences and needs when you learn about their differences. Century BMW is your trusted local source for a great selection of luxury vehicles to choose from and for friendly service throughout your purchase experience.

Performance

If you crave power and excitement behind the wheel, neither of these models will disappoint you, but their performance abilities are notably different. If you head home in the 2020 BMW X2 sDrive 28i, your vehicle will have a TwinPower Turbo 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder gas engine that generates 228 horsepower. When equipped with front-wheel drive, it accelerates up to 60 miles per hour in 6.6 seconds. The 2020 X2 xDrive 28i has many comparable features under the hood, and it has a slightly faster rate of acceleration at 6.3 seconds. The 2020 X3 trims also have this impressive powertrain. The 2020 X3 sDrive30i, however, has rear-wheel drive. With this equipment, it benefits from 248 horsepower and a slightly faster rate of acceleration. The final option available is the 2020 X3 xDrive30i, which is outfitted with intelligent all-wheel drive.

Appearance

The most apparent difference in the exterior between the 2020 X2 and X3 is in their size, but closer review reveals variations throughout their designs. The 2020 BMW X2 is a smaller vehicle that has a bold angle through the hood and a low, tapered profile. With the steep incline across the X2's hood, the grille's height is shorter. The X2 also has a horizontal bar theme throughout the lower front fascia, which is different than the front fascia design in the X3. Across the X2's sides, the contours have straight lines that trend upward toward the rear to highlight the SUV's power. Likewise, the side windows taper up as the roof arches down, and this further illustrates the X2's sporty design. Comparatively, the 2020 X3 has a refined appearance that is defined by larger LED headlights with a unique shape as well as the separation between the grille and front fascia. The contouring throughout the sides, as well as the side windows and roof, have a level presence, and this adds to the X3's modern sophistication.

Features

The 2020 X3 is a step above the X2 and has several standards and optional features that are not present in the X2. These include five more speakers than the X2 has, a HiFi sound system, and a digital amplifier. However, both are well-appointed with excellent features that you may prefer to have in your next SUV. Some of these are an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a push-button starter, a digital amplifier, a navigation system, leather seats, an air filtration system with a microfilter, and other gear.
