Engine Lineup
You cannot talk about a BMW without touching on performance. The X5 lineup has four engines.
- 35i: 3.0L turbo engine with 300 horsepower
- 50i: 4.4L V8 with 445 horsepower
There's also a 3.0L 35d diesel option with 255 horsepower (and an impressive 413 lb-ft torque), and fuel-conscious drivers can get the 2.0L 40e engine with 308 horsepower that can go back and forth between all-gas, all-electric, or a mix of both.
Unapologetic Refinement
BMW makes sure their drivers and passengers are spoiled. Shoppers can choose between real wood trim for a luxurious meets rustic look or brushed metal if they prefer the minimalist route. The entry-trims have SensaTec seating covers that are easy to clean and still look great, but as you work your way up there's genuine leather that's deliciously supple.
Within the X5 series you can pick from the Luxury, xLine, or M sport equipment groups to further differentiate the SAV with select wheel designs that really stand out, color schemes, and tuned suspensions.
Intuitive Technology
There's no shame in admitting you don't have the greatest sense of direction because BMW has an excellent voice-activated navigation system via the iDrive 6.0 platform. It can understand natural language and tones when you provide directions or want to change the radio station. Other tech amenities we love includes a wireless charging pad so you don't clutter up the interior with cords and a heads-up display that helps you keep your eyes on the road by providing pertinent information on the windshield.
