What's New for the 2019 BMW X6?

Styled as the "Sports Activity Coupe," the BMW X6 has been in production since the 2009 model year. For 2019, which is in the latter half of the midsize luxury crossover's second production cycle, the X6 gets more advanced driver safety aids as standard features. Also standard is a subscription-based Apple CarPlay feature for smartphone integration. The X6 is split into three main trims: the sDrive35i (the 35i with rear-wheel drive), the xDrive35i (the 35i with four-wheel drive), and the xDrive50i. At the 35i trim level, the X6 is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine, which produces 302 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque and enables a peak fuel economy of 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. The 50i uses a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8, which outputs 445 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque and enables a peak 0-60 mph time of 4.6 seconds. Each engine is pinned to an 8-speed automatic transmission with Sport and Manual shift modes for more exciting driving.

With two rows of seats, the 2019 BMW X6 can hold up to five people. Its cargo space is measured at 26.6 cubic feet, although you can fold down the 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats to expand it to 59.7 cubic feet. Dakota Leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, three-stage heated 14-way power-adjustable front seats with 4-way power lumbar support, and a memory system for the driver's seat are standard. The xDrive50i stands out with multi-contour front seats with added power adjustment functions for shoulder support, backrest width, and thigh support; 2-way manual lateral adjustment for the headrests; and memory function extended to the front passenger seat. For comfort and convenience, the X6 has features such as dynamic cruise control, a 2-way power glass moonroof, advanced vehicle and key memory, push-button engine ignition, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a garage-door opener, BMW TeleServices for vehicle maintenance assistance, BMW ConnectedDrive Services for remote connectivity and access, AM/FM radio, a single-disc CD player with MP3 playback capability, a nine-speaker 205-watt audio system, HD Radio technology, a 200 GB hard drive (with 20 GB reserved for audio files), a one-year Apple CarPlay subscription for smartphone integration, iDrive 6.0 infotainment integration with a touchpad controller, and 10.2-inch high-resolution touchscreen navigation with voice command technology and 3D maps. The xDrive50i stands out with one-year access to SiriusXM satellite radio, as well as 16-speaker 600-watt audio system (in place of the nine-speaker). Standard safety features include dynamic stability control, an anti-lock braking system, programmable LED daytime running lights, brake fade compensation, brake drying, dynamic traction control, dynamic brake control, a rearview camera with front and rear park distance control, active blind spot detection, BMW Assist eCall for emergency request and automatic collision notification, BMW Remote Services for functions that include stolen vehicle recovery and remote door unlock, an Active Driving Assistant to prepare certain components of the X6 to mitigate injury upon sensing an impending crash, an anti-theft system, and six airbags (dual front impact airbags, dual front seat-mounted side impact airbags, and dual roof-mounted side curtain airbags).
