2023 BMW XM vs 2023 BMW X7

Serving Greenville, SC

For luxury SUV shoppers in the Greenville area who demand a superior driving experience, the 2023 X7 and the 2023 XM are strong contenders. The midsize X7 has been BMW's flagship crossover for years and is joined by the XM this year. The XM is notably pricier and has M-division performance capabilities. While both are exciting options, a detailed look at what they offer may reveal that one is a better fit for your expectations.

Performance

The 2023 BMW X7 introduces a revamped engine at the base trim level. This is a 375-horsepower, turbo 3.0-liter, I-6 gas engine. The more advanced X7 trim benefits from 523 horsepower produced by a V8 turbocharged 4.4-liter engine. Both of these systems include all-wheel drive and an automatic eight-speed transmission.

The 2023 BMW XM's engine has a hybrid design with an electric motor and a twin-turbo V8. This unit produces 644 horsepower and shoots the XM up to 60 miles per hour in 4.1 seconds. It comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. In addition, the XM is engineered with several drive modes, an adaptive suspension, electronically-controlled shock absorbers, and an anti-roll system.

Appearance

The X7 has a tall, sophisticated presence with undulating side contours and linear definition through the lower door panels. The front of the X7 has a prestigious quality with a tall, two-part grille and a strong, flared design on the lower fascia. The slender headlights have a segmented LED light bar as an accent, and these lights run along the top of L-shaped air intakes. The XM, on the other hand, has sharp styling with geometric angles from end to end. The roof has a sporty angle, while the lower door panels and rear fenders are rigorously enhanced. The two-part grille has crisp corners and a thick surround. This unit sits above a V-shaped lower fascia. The headlights have the same look as the X7's headlights but are mounted over a second linear ribbon of lights. The air intakes have an innovative, angled quality.

Features

The three-row X7 is marvelously appointed with quality features and technologies. Some of its amenities may include a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, captain's chairs in the second row, heated and cooled cupholders, a five-zone climate management system, heat for the first two rows, automated parking, power sunshades in the second row, soft-close doors, wireless device charging, a head-up display, smart device app integration and many others. The 2023 XM has most of these same features. It is also available with dual display screens in the center stack, M-specific driver's readouts, Vintage Coffee Merino leather seats, and leather trim around the instrument panel and doors.
