Performance

In 2023, the 5 Series is available with three gas engines and a plug-in hybrid system. The entry-level engine is a 248-horsepower, four-cylinder, turbo 2.4-liter gas engine. Mid-level trims have a 335-horsepower V6 turbo 3.0-liter engine. The PHEV system puts out 288 horsepower and offers a 21-mile all-electric range. The top trim level in 2023 comes with a 523-horsepower, V8, turbo 4.4-liter system. In 2024, the 5 Series has an upgraded base engine version that produces 255 horsepower. The V6 engine is also enhanced to produce 375 horsepower. The other powertrains are removed. However, an all-electric i5 model is available.

Appearance

The BMW 5 Series had a low profile with long accents over the hood and sides. It expressed sporty confidence with large air inlets underneath double elemental LED headlights. In 2024, the BMW 5 Series shows off a more commanding profile with smoother, sleeker side panels. The grille is larger and has crisp edges. The fascia has absorbed the air inlets and now display athletic definition. The headlights have also been redesigned and have a darker, pointed quality for a touch of drama.
